Getting Started with Elara

Your complete guide to setting up and securing your cryptocurrency wallet

1

Download & Install

Get Elara Wallet from your device's official app store:

  • Android: Download from Google Play Store
  • iOS: Download from Apple App Store

Security Tip: Only download from official stores. Verify the developer name is "Elara Wallet" or "Interchained Foundation".

2

Create Your First Wallet

When you first open the app, you'll see two options:

  • Create New Wallet - Generate a brand new cryptocurrency wallet
  • Restore Wallet - Import an existing wallet using a seed phrase

For first-time users, tap "Create New Wallet".

3

Set Your 6-Digit PIN

Choose a secure 6-digit PIN to protect your wallet:

  • Don't use obvious numbers (111111, 123456, birthdays)
  • Make it memorable but unique
  • Never share your PIN with anyone

You'll need to enter this PIN every time you open the app or make a transaction.

4

Enable Biometric Authentication (Optional)

For added convenience, enable Face ID (iOS) or fingerprint (Android):

  • Faster wallet access
  • Secure transaction confirmation
  • Fallback to PIN if biometrics fail

Recommended: Enable biometrics for daily use while keeping your PIN as backup.

5

Backup Your Seed Phrase

This is the MOST IMPORTANT step. Your seed phrase is a 12-word backup of your wallet.

⚠️ CRITICAL: Write down these 12 words in order on paper. Store it somewhere safe. NEVER take a photo or screenshot. If you lose your phone, this is the ONLY way to recover your funds.

How to backup properly:

  • Write the 12 words on paper in the exact order shown
  • Verify you wrote them correctly (the app will ask you to confirm)
  • Store the paper in a safe place (fireproof safe, safety deposit box)
  • Never store it digitally (no photos, no cloud storage, no emails)
  • Consider making a second copy stored in a different location

Pro Tip: Use a metal backup plate for fireproof/waterproof storage of your seed phrase.

6

Verify Your Backup

The app will ask you to confirm your seed phrase by selecting words in order. This ensures you wrote it down correctly.

  • Select words 3, 7, and 11 (or as prompted)
  • If you get it wrong, review your written backup
  • Don't skip this step—it confirms your backup works!
7
